When buying a new lift whats best? Surface mounted or in-ground?
Surface mounted are easy to install, no groundwork, but have trailing power and air leads, so it can be difficult to access with steep run up ramps. In-grounds are flat to the floor when in the down position so no run up ramps needed, no trailing cables or hoses and look very smart when recessed.
With the modern lifts height is not really an issue so I guess it's a you pay your money you make your choice. Groundwork can be expensive unless you're a new build so I think that is the key. if it's a new shop or project consider seriously the in-ground models.
Have a look here for some great in-grounds, and here for some great looking surface models recently installed at the EPC.
